Isaiah’s Acres.  I guess I’ll call this an open letter to my friends, my family, and the universe as a whole.  I’ve been asked so many times – “Just exactly what is Isaiah’s Acres?”  “What are y’all doing down there?”  “Have you lost your mind?”  Let me begin by saying this has, and remains, an intensely personal journey.  Parts of it are still too tender to talk about.  So, with some personal edits, I will attempt to introduce you to Isaiah’s Acres.  Let’s begin with Isaiah 61:7

 

Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.

 

It is essential to begin with scripture because scripture gave birth to Isaiah’s Acres.  For 2 years I wandered this property with the Holy Spirit as my only companion.  I became intimately familiar with every corner of it in a way that wasn’t possible before.  Then, one day about 2 years ago, I began to dream again.  About the future!  In living color, and wide awake, I began to dream.  More scripture please:

Ephesians 3:20 says, “God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, and above all, you could ever ask, imagine, or think, according to His power at work in you.”

 

This verse (don’t you just love Paul!?!) gave me the confidence to know that I was not merely day dreaming – that this was God’s will for my life.  I always wondered what knowing that would feel like, and now I know.   One more scripture reference (for now)

Philippians 4:11-13

11) I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12) I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13) I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Things that were beyond my human power to accomplish suddenly became doable. 

Minor goals mushroomed into grand plans. I suppose this is the point I need to be

more specific.  As I write this, we have a newly constructed duck habitat/resort;

goats with their own theme park-like accommodations; chickens to be housed in a

what is no less than a poultry palace; over 800 vegetable plants ready to go into the

ground in the new, beautifully fenced (sorry deer) garden area; hard-scapes and

soft-scapes in a large area for cut flowers; thousands of seeds that will be planted

later this year in our large wildflower area; a pavilion that is morphing into a greenhouse;

a tree canopied lane than is nothing less than magical; a fantastic hummingbird area;

and our very own quartz quarry.

 

Soooooooo what’s the point?  Very soon Isaiah’s Acres will be open to all.  What exactly

that looks like I just don’t know yet.  What I do know is this: I appreciate the creation

but I worship the Creator.  I treasure the supply but I worship the Supplier. I marvel

at the provision but I worship the Provider.  I also am convinced that, as long as I

remain steadfast in my role as steward of this wonderful place, God will continue to

reveal HIS plan.

MEET TIM!

A totally divine encounter brought Tim, and his family, to our family. Initially it was his love for the Lord that drew us in. His mad carpentry skills were just the best bonus ever. Not to mention, he's a wizard with a chain saw. There's not a tool he can't use, a dream he can't dream, a person he won't help.

Tim has totally bought into the vision of Isaiah's Acres and has a true servant's heart. Please pray for God's blessings on Tim and his family as Tim continues to bless us with his handiwork.
